Member of Parliament for Scarborough Centre
While all the days may seem like they're blending together these days, we have come to the Victoria Day long weekend and the unofficial kickoff to summer. I hope you're able to enjoy this long weekend with your family and loved ones - but please do so safely, keeping in mind the advice of our public health professionals for physical distancing.
I'd like to wish a happy early Mother's Day to all the mothers in Scarborough. It's never easy to be a Mother and, during these challenging times, there has been even more pressure on Moms to keep families together, safe and healthy. Sunday is your day! I hope all the fathers and children out there help to make it a great one for you.
With May comes warmer weather, and hopefully we also come closer to the other side of this challenge we are all facing as Canadians make extraordinary sacrifices to win the fight against COVID-19.
As I begin my latest update, let me say Ramadan Mubarak and Ramadan Kareem to all those celebrating Ramadan this month. I know it will be a very different Ramadan, without being able to go to the Mosque for prayers and gathering with the community for Iftar. Instead, we will be at home with our families. Let us remember the values of empathy and charity that are now more important than ever.
As I write to provide you with another weekly update, I remain hopeful and optimistic that the sacrifices many of us are making by staying home and by physically distancing will begin to pay off soon. With warmer spring weather just around the corner, it's so important that we stay the course so all our efforts to date have not been for nothing.
This is a list of organizations that operate in the Scarborough Centre area that includes food bank services and drop-off support services (groceries, medication, etc.) for seniors. Some of these organizations service only a specific catchment based on area code. Enquiries on services offered should go to the organization directly.
